Ever imagined why my blog always has a black or dark theme?
Well, thats because Im doing my part of saving energy....Basically, screens consume less energy (or electricity) when producing dark colours, specially at lower brightness.
So while searching for a trick that enables me to set my Firefox background to black colour (in which i've still not suceeded....any help will be highly appreciated!!) I came across this web site that uses Google search to find your search queries.
The concept behind Blackle is that computer monitors can be made to consume less energy by displaying much darker colors. Blackle is based on a study which tested a variety of CRT and LCD monitors. There is dispute over whether there really are any energy saving effects. This concept was first brought to the attention of Heap Media by a blog post, which estimated that Google could save 750.0 megawatt-hours a year by utilizing it for CRT screens. The homepage of Blackle provides a count of the number of megawatt-hours that have supposedly been saved by enabling this concept.
I love this site so much that it is my home page...I generally don't keep home pages. So you can understand how much I like using this site. The only problem with Blackle is that it does not support Google image search. The image search would be a great option.
My rating for this site would be ......ummmmm........9/10.
So now I don't "google" my searches but now, I "blackle" them.......
