Did you check the aquarium at the top of the blog????

Since it is against the rules of my hostel here at the Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (huh!! i hate typing the complete name of my university...its too long....so get used to PDPU- the acronym) to keep pets; not even fishes...YES now you get it. Why the hell have I put fishes at the top of my blog??

Well, they are my pet fishes. Why fishes and not anything else?? That's because there were no other options for me. Of course I could play around with live mosquitos and many UNUSUAL insects around here (trust me they are in abundance here and you don't wanna come close to them....) but these fishes are completely harmless. The only problem I have with them is that I'm now addicted to them.

In case you didn't notice, they follow the cursor. You can feed them with a yellow coloured material by clicking near them. Yes you can go ahead and try to feed them. But don't blame me if you get addicted or "Attached" as my buddy call it.

And in case you are wondering about the "unusual creatures" I mentioned above....I'll try to post some pics later. I just hope that they don't come too close to me when I use my room mates camera to get a Macro look at them!!!

Admit it people, the fishes are very........??????.......ummmm.......(tasty is the word that my roomie would suggest for describing fishes!!).....aaaahhhh.....friendly. I just can't get enough of them.

Now get paid to receive Ads on your mobile

SMS advertisements need no longer be that perennial pain in the neck! Indeed, if a Bangalore-based company has its way, the adverts might actually help mobile users make a lot of bucks!!
Bangalore-based mGinger.com has come out with a novel idea to pay users to receive SMS adverts.

Started by three engineers, the company plans to use what is called 'permission-based marketing' to make SMS advertising a lucrative proposition for both users and advertisers.
Chaitanya Nallan, CEO of mGinger, and an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, explains that mGinger actually tries to eliminate spam from users' phones. Only, it does this in such a way that ads turn into useful information on users' phones.
To get paid for receiving SMS adverts, people need to log on to mGinger.com, and register themselves with their mobile phone numbers and the kind of ads they want to receive.

The good part is users get to dictate the number of ads they want, and when they want to receive them.

For every advert received, mGinger pays 20 paise to the mobile user; for every referral, 10 paise. The referrals go up to 2 levels and then stop. The company pays a user by cheque once he/she crosses a minimum limit of Rs 300. Nallan says people can make anywhere between Rs 300 and Rs 1,600 per month; enough at least to pay their own mobile phone bills.

So now you will not be annoyed anymore when you receive an SMS when you are in a class, lecture or meeting
Go on....make some money!!!

PDPU in news...is it good for us?

Recently I came across this news about Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University. I don't know if I should be happy or not....
Submit your comments and reviews about this and also check out the poll below.
Following is the extract from DNA daily :

Two students of Pandit Dindayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, allegedly involved in an eve-teasing incident in the campus, have been debarred from appearing for one semester examination. They will also be not given the pick and drop facility for six months.

According to sources the students Kush Patel and Kashyap Patel allegedly teased three girl students on the campus. They also used vulgar language against the trio. Sources said that the students had been harassing the girls for some time now.

Tired of the constant harassment the girls complained to the concerned authorities. Sources said that a grievance committee looked into the matter and found the two students guilty.

Sources said that the two students were then debarred from appearing for the first semester exam and making use of the pick and drop facility. The accused students have decided to appeal to the higher authorities against the decision.

The varsity's registrar N Sunder Ram refused to comment on the incident. He, however, admitted that such an incident had taken place on the campus some days ago. Director general of PDPU Kartik Kullar was not available for comments.

Don't forget to vote in the poll below!!

Blackle - Save energy while you search on internet

Ever imagined why my blog always has a black or dark theme?
Well, thats because Im doing my part of saving energy....Basically, screens consume less energy (or electricity) when producing dark colours, specially at lower brightness.
So while searching for a trick that enables me to set my Firefox background to black colour (in which i've still not suceeded....any help will be highly appreciated!!) I came across this web site that uses Google search to find your search queries.

The concept behind Blackle is that computer monitors can be made to consume less energy by displaying much darker colors. Blackle is based on a study which tested a variety of CRT and LCD monitors. There is dispute over whether there really are any energy saving effects.
This concept was first brought to the attention of Heap Media by a blog post, which estimated that Google could save 750.0 megawatt-hours a year by utilizing it for CRT screens. The homepage of Blackle provides a count of the number of megawatt-hours that have supposedly been saved by enabling this concept.

I love this site so much that it is my home page...I generally don't keep home pages. So you can understand how much I like using this site. The only problem with Blackle is that it does not support Google image search. The image search would be a great option.
My rating for this site would be ......ummmmm........9/10.
So now I don't "google" my searches but now, I "blackle" them.......
